Hey Danny,
There are two boards that I think would be the magic for you…..I’ll detail them, then let you decide…..
The first is called the Accelerator – it works insane in the littler stuff, yet is still real quick off the back foot and nice and tight in the pocket when you get a punchy spot. Dimensions would be 5’9″ x 18 x 2 1/16″ rounded squashtail…..the Accelerator will tend to be a little more versatile in the cruddy stuff. The other option would be the Blackbird. This board is real quick and loose and loves to punch the pocket. It is not quite as versatile in the real small stuff, but is a really good all around performance shorty. Dims for this one would be: 5’9″ x 17 3/4″ x 2 1/16″ rounded squashtail…..this board would have the advantage over the Accelerator on the better shaped days.
The premium board i do now as far as strength and performance are concerned is the Proxy/ custom epoxy. Super light, stronger than any polyester board….strong like a molded board, but with the flex and weight of a super light polyester board. …best of both worlds. I’m also doing them in parabolic stringer configurations now too which adds a whole new super springin flex pattern and life to the board.
Please feel free to ask any other questions you may have. I know you would be stoked on a magic Proctor Proxy. Looking forward to your reply,
Aloha,
Todd
